WELCOME TO THE MUNICIPALITY OF GARMEN

It would be so nice if a man could skip into the dream world. The Municipality of Garmen is situated in the foot of South-West Rhodopes Mountains, where the rivers Mesta and Kanina are running through. 16 pretty villages are cuddling in the luxuriant greenery. The beautiful nature and the rich native cultural and historical heritage make the place a really special one.

The municipality centre is in the village of Garmen, which is proud of its architectural sights and its centuries-old plan-trees. The architectural reserve Kovachevica is a monument of the culture of the Bulgarian national Revival. The first civic school in the municipality is opened in 1854 by Nikolai Banev, and the first church “St. Nikolai” is opened in 1847. The natives of the village of Leshten are just 9 people on contrast to the many visitors who are delighted by the good conditions for eco-tourism. The village of Gorno Dryanovo surprises with the variety of folklore songs and interesting ancient customs. The hot healing mineral springs, a gift from Nature, in village of Ognyanovo are a basis for the native traditions – carried out from Roma therms to nowadays spas.
