The goal of the training is to acquaint the participants with different approaches of work with communities. A thorough review of the basic principles and methodology of the community development approach is made during the training. The values on which this approach is based include empowering local communities for solving problems on the basis of the local resources which they dispose of; encouraging of the broad citizens’ participation on behalf of the people; acknowledging, understanding and respecting differences etc.
The process of community development is based on involving the community members to work together in order to change the things that depend on them. This type of work requires skills such as: needs and resources assessment, community mobilizing, advocacy, marketing etc.
