On May 18, 2007 the second sports playground constructed with the support of WCIF was opened in the town of Kavarna

On May 18, 2007 in the town of Kavarna took place the official opening of the second sports playground constructed as a part of the “Win and help” campaign that is carried out in May 2007.

The construction of the sports playground in Kavarna is part of the “Sport in the free time” programme that is a joint initiative of Eurofootball, Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) and Bulgarian National Lottery. “Sport in the free time” is part of the “Win and help” campaign that is financed by Eurofootball and with the funds of National Lottery second circulation. The construction of the sports playground in Kavarna was accomplished by the Association for Ecology and Sustainable Development “Getia Pontica”, which applied for a call for proposals organized by WCIF at the end of 2006.

The sports playground in Kavarna is the second one out of five sports playgrounds that will be opened in May 2007. The first sports playground was opened in the village of Markovo. The other tree playgrounds will be opened in the towns of Sofia, Karlovo and Aitos.

Within the framework of “Sport in the free time” programme also non-professional cycling development will be supported by construction of 20 bicycle parking lots in central places in Kavarna. Signs for road safety movement will be put in different places of the city as well.

The sports playground in Kavarna was officially opened by the deputy mayor of the town Mr. Mitko Nedev. On behalf of the municipality of Kavarna, Mr. Nedev promised to cover the area with asphalt thus attesting the local authority engagement with the project.

In the cycle contest took part 30 participants that were separated by age in five teams – girls, boys, junior teenagers, elder teenagers and men. The competition included passing through all the equipments in a certain time.

The prizes were given to the winners from Elitsa Ivanova-PR specialist of Eurofootball, Dimitar Tzolov-Training Manager of WCIF, Mitko Nedev and Georgi Georgiev - member of the board of managers of “Getia Pontica” association.

The event was officially closed with a concert of the groups “Jeremy” and “Aktzes”.
