Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation announces a possibility for application under “Learning, success, change” 2007 programme.

For participation in the programme 10 non-governmental organizations that work in the field of social and local community development will be selected.

The final deadline for application is January 8, 2007.

General information for the programme and conditions for application are enclosed in the Bulgarian version of the news.

The applying organizations and civic groups must be non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious organizations. In the programme can take part both officially registered non-governmental organizations as well as non-registered civic groups.

The programme will be of largest use for organizations and civic groups that have been recently established and that have not been trained a lot and have not received a lot of financing so far.

The participants in the programme will receive:

  • 12 days intense training, divided into 4 modules that include: community development and the role of the non-governmental organizations, project development and implementation, fundraising and local resource mobilization, work with groups in disadvantaged situation, partnership and cooperation with non-governmental organizations and with local authorities etc.
  • 15 days individual on site consultations for project development and implementation that will be rendered by experts with a big experience in Bulgarian non-governmental sector.
  • opportunity for application for financing of a small fundraising event (micro-grant up to 200 lv.)
  • opportunity for application, after 600 lv. have been raised from the local community, for supplementary financing (micro-grant from 600 to 2,000 lv) in order to apply into practice their ideas.

Those who have successfully finished the programme could:

  • work effectively in their non-governmental groups or civic groups in order to respond to the needs of their communities and target groups;
  • to apply the principles of good management;
  • to develop and implement projects;
  • to understand the principles and approaches of local development;
  • to understand the role of the non-governmental sector and to carry out cooperation with other non-governmental organizations, with local authorities and other institutions;
  • to popularize their activities and to attract supporters on local level;
  • to raise funds and to mobilize local resources.
