“Eurofootball” together with Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) organised on May 8, 2007 a press conference for the start of “Sport in the free time” programme that is a joint initiative of “Eurofootball”, WCIF and Bulgarian National Lottery. “Sport in the free time” is part of “Win and help” campaign and is financed by “Eurofootball” and with the funds of the National Lottery second circulation, part of which proceeds is allocated for social causes.
Within the framework of “Sport in the free time” programme “Eurofootball” will finance the construction and the official opening of five sport playgrounds in Markovo village, Kavarna, Sofia, Karlovo and Aitos in May 2007.
At the press conference “Sport in the free time” programme was presented by Margarita Lulova, PR manager at “Eurofootball”, Iliyana Nikolova, executive director of WCIF and Veselin Cvetkov, executive director of Bulgarian National Lottery.
At the press conference were presented the five projects that will be financed under “Sport in the free time” programme by representatives of the organisations that will implement the projects.
The programme “Sport in the free time” aims at creating new sport spaces – playgrounds for different sports – football, basketball, volleyball, handball, tennis on court, tennis on table, chess, fitness etc. that would give an opportunity to the people to deal with sport in their free time. Construction of these playgrounds creates conditions for a healthy life which is extremely important having in mind the everyday stress and aggression that is present not only in the young people’s life, but also in life of the adults.
The programme offers also development of sport and social skills as teambuilding, communication skills, responsibility, leadership and empathy. The accent of the programme is the active involvement of the local citizens in the realization of all the activities, connected with construction of the sport playgrounds. The whole initiative is a result of an already expressed engagement and motivation on behalf of the civic groups from different towns and villages in Bulgaria. It will be implemented in the partnership with different local institutions and organisations (local authorities, business, media and non-governmental organisations). The voluntary work of the people in the construction of the sport playgrounds guarantees the effectiveness of the initiative and is a precondition for a responsible attitude on behalf of the citizens regarding the preservation and upkeep of the devices in the future.
