On May 13, 2007 started the renovation of the sports playground in Markovo village that will be accomplished with the support of WCIF

On May 13, 2007 in the village of Markovo started the restoration of the sports playground that is located in the park of the village. The aim of the initiative is to make this playground a place where the people of Markovo can relax and have an active rest.

The renovation of the sports playground in Markovo is part of the “Sport In the free time” programme that is a joint initiative of Eurofootball, Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) and Bulgarian National Lottery. “Sport in the free time” is part of the “Win and help” campaign that is financed by Eurofootball and with the funds of National Lottery second circulation.

On the day of the official start of the initiative - May 13, 2007- the sports playground was cleaned and three sport competitions and an open-air disco party were held. More than 50 children took part in the spring-cleaning of the park and the competitions. At the event were present Jordan Shishkov, mayor of Rodopy county, Margarita Lulova, PR Manager of Eurofootball and Yuriy Vulkovskyq Financial Manager of WCIF.

The sports playground is restored by the initiative of Aleko Konstantinov community centre in Markovo.

The renovation includes setting of basketball, volleyball and tennis sports facilities, setting of new park benches and street lights. The wire-net fence will be repaired and the old benches and sports facilities will be painted as well.
