The work of the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) has its place in the process of development of Bulgarian society in the long run. The initiatives we develop and support  bring back a forgotten idea - the idea that initiativeness and individual responsibility , trust and philathropy are of significant importance for the life in a free and democratic society.

We, at WCIF:

· Encourage and support local philanthropy by attracting local donors and helping them formulate and realize their philathropic goals in accordance with their interests and problems, as well as with the needs of the community and to succeed to make their investments permanent in an innovative and responsible way.

· Encourage voluntary and active civic participation by financing different initiatives. Thus we support the engagement of citizens in solving important problems within the society and stimulate solidarity.

· Solve crucial social problems by providing support to establish local partnerships between all stakeholders. We support the initiative, development and  innovative approach by providing support to as a many organizations and initiatives as possible. 

· Play a leading role in community development by supporting the cooperation between the people, applying the knowledge, using our reputation and relations in the community in order to accomplish successful change.

· Build capacity for local non-profit organizations and small community groups by providing them technical assistance, in addition to funding them, in order for them to become more efficient, effective and better prepared to meet the challenges of the region where they live.

· Develop and document the knowledge of the local communities by keeping in close touch with them and facilitating the development of their potential.

WCIF is one of the few Bulgarian foundations supporting Bulgaria's development by funding civic organizations. Thereby, WCIF has a leadership position as an independent source of financial support for small civic initiatives that would hardly receive support from the traditional EU grant schemes.

For ten years, WCIF has reached significant results. The quantitive aspects of some of them are:

· Funded over 550 projects of civic groups and organizations in the field of local development and has thus solved important local problems;

· Attracted and invested more than 3.6 million Bulgarian leva (BGN) for the development of Bulgaria. 

· Over 350 thousand leva has been additionally mobilized by different local communities and invetsed in local developmetn as a result of the active support by WCIF.

· Created the first Corporate Philathropy Fund, managed by a non-governmental organization (in the year 2004) - Social Responsibility Fund of the First Investment Bank”;

· 4 companies have realized their philanthropy programs with our support;

· Attracted over 600 000 Bulgarian leva from corporate donors;

· Increased the capacity of 1600 people, representing over 600 organizations from all over the country and has as a result ot the trainings received, have significantly improved their work;

· Over 750 publications in the local and national media and over 500 news reports and interviews in electronic media prove the interest of the fourth power towards th eorganization, the work approach and the achieved results.
